Panic Attacks, Causes and How To Control Them

Hypnosis is one of the best ways to stop panic attacks from happening. There are many things that can cause panic attacks. They can be caused by panic disorder, social anxiety, post-traumatic stress, using drugs, being depressed, or having a medical problem. They can be set off by something that happens or by thoughts that come up out of the blue. People are more likely to have a panic attack if they smoke, drink too much caffeine, or eat too much sugar. Before a diagnosis is made, things like hyperthyroidism, hyperparathyroidism, heart disease, lung disease, and drug use should be ruled out.

When treating panic attacks, you should focus on the reason why they happen. If attacks happen often, sometimes counseling or medicine is used. Breathing exercises and ways to relax your muscles have also been shown to help. Statistics show that people who have attacks often are more likely to kill themselves.

In Europe, about 3% of the population has a panic attack every year, according to the countries there. In the U.S., the number is about 11%, which is much higher. They happen more often in women than in men. Most of the time, they start during adolescence or early adulthood. Less often, it happens to children and older people.
